Backyard Makeover, April-May 2006

The top two rows of photos show our backyard jungle before the make-over. While the Banks Roses and African Daisys were still beautiful, the undergrowth had died out. And our neighbors had taken out the trees on their side of the fence, so that cold wind came whipping through the yard, which had never happened to begin with. So we called in Markham Adams to help with a redesign. He planted some tamarask trees, native to our area, cut back the dead growth on the roses, and cleared a path through the daisys to help with maintenance. The bottom row shows the much cleaner look, dressed up with some easy-care roses from Jackson & Perkins. We were quite pleased with the result.
